LOTS OF FUN: Grimsby and Cleethorpes Leo Club members (from left) Stephen Ball, Lyn Martin and Kathy Gallagher, pictured on the sea front in Cleethorpes in June 1984, had no trouble attracting the attention of passers-by as they helped to collect money during their Funday at Brighton Street Slipway to raise money for the psychiatric unit at Grimsby District General Hospital.

IN 1983, the Grimsby Telegraph held a competition called Hold The Front Page to mark Local Newspaper Week, which caught the imagination of schools in the area. Children were asked to write and design their own front page – and they took up the challenge with relish. And one group of third year students from Waltham Toll Bar School were invited to give us their opinion of their local paper and how it could be improved to appeal to more youngsters.
